What is the difference between conventional and synthetic oil?

Synthetic oils are designed to provide a higher level of protection for your motor than conventional oils can. Synthetic oils are refined, distilled and broken down into smaller molecules. In the process to make synthetic oil, more impurities are removed and specific chemicals are added to enhance the performance and demands of modern engines. Over time, conventional oils can sometimes form sludge, build up and decrease your engines efficiency. Synthetic oil is designed to protect against friction much better than conventional oil will during cold startups and will also protect against extreme heat in warmer climates or during warm summer months. If you have further questions on which oil would be best for your particular vehicle, we would be happy to determine exactly what kind of oil your vehicle’s manufacturer requires.

How do I know what services my vehicle needs?

The maintenance schedule should be in the Owner’s Manual that you got when you purchased your vehicle. If you need help figuring out what services your vehicle needs, stop by the shop and we will help you plan your service visits based on the year, make and model of your vehicle.

Can I stay in my vehicle during the oil change?

Yes, you may remain in your vehicle during the oil change or you are welcome to wait in our waiting area.

What is high mileage oil?

High mileage oil is designed specifically for older engines or engines that have 75,000+ miles. It has special chemical additives that help prevent leaks and/or help stop leaks in the engine.  If you are unsure if your vehicle may need or should be using high mileage oil, please ask one of our lube techs if it might be worth it for your vehicle.

Do you require an appointment?

No appointment is needed for an oil change and for most services at our shop. We are on a first come, first service basis. Just pull up and we will get to your vehicle as fast as we can.

What do you do with used motor oil?

Wonder where the dirty used oil goes that is drained from your vehicle and what happens to it after you receive an oil change?  We collect it in large waste tanks and recycle it in a couple of ways. One way we recycle it is with a special heating unit that burns the oil to produce heat for the vehicle bay areas. We also have an oil-recycling company that comes to take this oil to be used for many other uses. Not only do we recycle the oil we collect from all of the oil changes we do daily, we are a waste oil drop off facility for people that need a location to recycle used oil. It is never placed back into a vehicle! Only new unused oil can be added to an engine.  Oil recycling makes an impact on the environment for the future.

How long should wiper blades last?

Wiper blades vary in quality and should be replaced every six months to a year or sooner if you notice reduced visibility when they are in use. The conditions you drive in can cause blades to break down faster.  If your wipers squeak, chatter, skip, smear, streak or are starting to come apart it may be time to replace them increasing your safety when you drive. We inspect your wipers blades during your oil change service or you are welcome to stop in to have them checked at any time.

Why is an oil change important? And what will happen if I don’t get an oil change?

The oil used in the engine will over time breakdown and eventually it will not lubricate the important moving parts in the engine.  If oil is not changed as needed or is used up and the reserve goes empty the life of you engine can be reduced and damage can occur. Following the recommended oil change schedule from your Owner’s Manual could increase the life of your engine.
